27 Mar 2012
Following the dazzling success of his staging of Donizett’is la fille du regiment in 2010, Laurent Pelly returns to the Metropolitan Opera to direct Massenet’s Manon - a co-production with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala Milan, and the Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse. Pelly’s production premiered first at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden in 2010, to great critical acclaim. It features his own costume designs, scenic design by Chantal Thomas, lighting design by Joël Adam, and choreography by Lionel Hoche.
Conducted by the Met’s Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi, the opera stars acclaimed Anna Netrebko as the captivating Manon making her role debut at the Met.
The production will be transmitted live to cinemas around the world on Saturday, April 7 as part of the Met: Live in HD series.
