“The next on the programme was Glazunov’s Violin Concerto, performed with great passion by 18-year soloist Esther Yoo. She plays a Stradivarius from 1704 which sounds magnificent; the music Yoo brings forth is […] almost creamy. And Yoo is good. Very good. When playing the high notes she remains in perfect pitch. Even in the double-stop passages at the end of the concerto she performed seemingly effortless. Afterwards Yoo surprised the audience one of J.S. Bach’s partitas for violin as an encore. A calm, slightly melancholic piece, through which she shows us a different side of her talent. A side which is also beautiful.”

Ugenda - Feb 2013

“  This very young violinist has fully proven her growing reputation as an outstanding artist. Thanks to her beautiful sound, impeccable intonation, dazzling technique and most of all deep musicality her Sibelius was a real feast for the ears. Her interpretation was also a breath of fresh air since this dark music is rarely played with such illumination.  Most of the works by the famous Finn, including the Violin Concerto, are dominated by the omnipresent aura of nostalgia and sadness. Esther Yoo was reading the Sibelius with her youthful outlook of an eighteen-year-old. She played with genuine devotion, sincerely and enchantingly.  ”

Dziennik Polski - Dec 2012

“The Caprice No. 1 in E major for solo violin by Paganini which Esther Yoo played for us as an "encore" after the Beethoven concerto, heated the place white-hot, the other evening, in the crowd packed hall of the Arsenal. The flying staccato arpeggios like ricochets of her bow, this young violinist of not yet 18 is undoubtedly extraordinary. Spidery, perfectly timed clock-like precision, without any difficulty, without stiffness, she has the talent to make the audience completely forget all the fearsome technical difficulties of the music. The soloist, without any demonstrated efforts, played one of Beethoven’s masterpieces for us at the opening of the concert, led by Jacques Mercier, head of the ONL. We cannot emphasize enough the radiant freshness of this young soloist, the clear placement, the pure legato, the undulation of a naturally placed arm and the beautiful sounds of the strings that carried through the hall. Not to mention the two cadenzas she played in the version adopted by Fritz Kreisler. It was a dream that flowed across the three movements…It is therefore, not presumptuous to predict that she could be the Oïstrakh of the XXI century.”
